The Color Pink

I know that by posting this, I will subject myself to some ridicule, but here goes my complete ridiculousness...

I wear a lot of pink while running... love my pink CEPs... have a number of pink shirts... love my pink TMB endurance band (actually have 2 pink ones)...

I'm pretty sure that most of my awesome race days have been wearing pink.  Seriously, look at those geese... how could the not rock it while wearing pink?

For the record, I really didn't like pink at all up until 6 years ago when my first daughter was born... even then I didn't like it much until she started loving for me to wear the same color.  Then I would buy more and more pink just because it made her happy.

Anyhow, most of my good runs occur while wearing pink.  Let me add in here that I am not superstitious.  I believe that God is in control, so it is a completely ridiculous notion to connect a color with success.  Completely and utterly ridiculous.

On to the major point... I finally got my lime green CEP socks.  I've been wanting these for awhile and now they are mine!  Then skirtsports.com had a 50% off sale on some of their designs, and I snagged myself a lime green running skirt (I know a lot of you love runningskirts.com, but I'm not a skinny minny, and the lightweight fabric just doesn't "hold" me as well as the much thicker SkirtSports).  So I'm set for race day... lime green skirt, lime CEP socks, black Nike shirt, black Nike arm sleeves.

But then I got this nagging feeling that I shouldn't mess with the pink... me + race = pink.  For some insane reason, it's been bothering me.  Thankfully, Robin set me straight.  This is my first marathon, and a marathon deserves a NEW color.  And besides, she reminded me, "Green means go!"  Yes it does.  So I will be rocking the lime green!  If you see a flash of lime green go past you on Sunday out at White Rock Lake, that's probably another runner me.

3 1/2 days to GO!   The next 3 days will be complete focus on VITAMIN C to get rid of this cough and junk in my throat... I would hate to have to spit a snotball into the spectators cough during the entire run Sunday.  I have been very good about denying high fat foods this week, but I think I am failing at getting to bed early enough, hydrating enough, and shockingly, I don't think I'm eating enough... must find carbs!

Good luck to you!!! Green does mean go and you will be great! I too bought the Skirt Sports skirts and I almost bought that green one to but opted for a pink and a blue one. I am also a fan of pink. Most of my running gear is some shade of pink. Let's hear it for the girls running in pink!

Lime green, bright pink, it's all good!! Either one is totally stand out-ish and that makes them all the more fun and exciting :D Soo, So much good luck in your marathon on Sunday, although I am sure you don't need luck bc you are well trained, so Best Wishes then!!!

I love pink as well. Whenever I buy new running shoes or clothing, I always go for pink. I think I need more variety....

You are so funny... I'm glad you are going for the lime greeen... I have actually been considering all sorts of colors... I can't decide though until I know for sure our weather and how cold and windy it will be.

When we used to get popsicles on our long runs I always requested green becuase I was sure it made me faster ;)

Can't wait - can't wait - can't wait!!! We should have planned a lunch this week to carb load together... likely too late now. maybe a celebration thing in the next couple of weeks.

I was totally the same way about pink. Did. Not. Like. It.
Then the wee girl came along. I even remember telling my Mom and SIL that I was refusing to dress her in pink. She was born pretty and pink and almost immediately both of our wardrobes were full of it! I love my pink now!

Love the lime green socks! Yes - Green definitely means GO!!! You'll rock it!

Green does mean go - and I'll bet it's a great color for you. Also, I love those geese, although if they wear those outfits for any length of time, ewww. Goose poop!

LOVE the new mantra - and I'm with you, I'm a pink person...but lime green and turquoise are close seconds. I bought a running skirt from Skirt Sports during that amazing sale, too, and you articulated why I like it so much more than anything else I've tried on - it DOES hold me better. Plus it's not super short. Sorry, got off track a little with this comment...you are going to look so cute on race day and will ROCK the marathon!

I don't see how you can not be a speed demon in those neon socks!

I'm with you - I love skirtsports. I do have 2 skirts from Running Skirts coming in the mail to me though - hopefully they hold me, since I am not a skinny minnie! Minnie ... did I spell it that way out of a subconscious Princess thing??

Now you are behaving so well... tonight ... GO TO BED!! :)

LIME GREEN!! LOVE 'EM!! Get better soon and GOOD LUCK SUNDAY!

I love CEP too!

I have the same feeling with Running Skirts. I want to love them because sooo many runners do but... Maybe it's just my shape but they just don't look as flatterning on me. I have 3 and granted they would have to be smaller to stay up but if I had a smaller size then they'd be too tight across my hips. Ugh!
I am going to check out skirtsports.
Run strong! Go Green!

I just ate two mexican rice and bean enchiladas and have plenty left over for more if you want me to bring some to you tomorrow at the pick-up?

Karen has been driving me nuts (I love it) about does this match this or that. I just keep telling her you are running a marathon not doing a runway shoot. Who cares what you wear just be comfortable.

Now I am sitting here in the dilemma of all black or black and white.

I'm with Allison on the black (not the slimming thing I don't care) but black makes me feel intimidating and I like that.

See you on Friday. Enchiladas?

I wear pink and other bright colors on my runs too! They are happy colors and keep me motivated. Today at the gym, I felt like an easter egg - pink nike tank and lavender under armour pull over :)

You will rock the marathon in your bright green!
