Dear Non-Runners:
Yes, I have less than 10 toenails. No, it doesn't hurt or bother me.
I know I just ran a race last week.
I have, in fact, been up and running for potentially hours before you roll out of bed, so please don't judge my early bedtime.
No, no one is chasing me. Yes, I pay money to torture myself for multiple hours.
A marathon is 26.2 miles. All 365 days of the year and in every country, it is still 26.2 miles.
Yes, I occassionally eat like a horse. I also just burned off all those calories and then some.
I'm sorry about turning down your invite to {insert event here} but I have been training for this race for 6 months, and I feel justified turning the event down so I can continue my training, as needed.
Don't guess my time. You're probably wrong. I'm probably much slower than you think. And I'm ok with that. I still put in the effort and work.
No, I did not win. Yes, everyone gets a medal. No, I don't think that's stupid. We all crossed the same finish line.
Thank you for your concern for my knees. They are doing just fine. Millions of people who aren't runners have knee problems. I'd rather be healthy and take the risk.
I know I said I'd never run this distance again. And I definitely know I vowed I would *never* run further. I lied. It happens.
Sincerely,
The Runner

Love this! Love the comment about the knees... so far, so good for me too and yes, I'm willing to risk it as well :)
LOL. The best part is that you *know* you are beyond C-R-A-Z-Y!!!
Hahaha! I love it, too. Can I steal if I link to you?
You are more than welcome to link to it, of course.

I. Love. This.
That is all.
This is beyond awesome!
LOVE!!!!!!
Love this! You are so right about the knees. Sometimes I think people are just jealous.:)
Ditto to everything everyone else has said...I love this post! I'm definitely the girl who says "no" to most invites because I have to run in the morning!
LOVE!
The "concern" for joints and comments on how much I am eating INFURIATE me!!
i wish i had an office wall to post this on. maybe you should make it onto a shirt :)
HATE to be repetitive. "love this"
"A marathon is 26.2 miles. All 365 days of the year and in every country, it is still 26.2 miles."
that is funny!!!!
LOVE IT!!!
this is AWESOME, thanks to TMB @ Racing with Babes for sharing the link. i agree with the shirt idea. i'd buy one :)
LOVE THIS! You rock Lesley!
Great post!
Well said! Love it!
PERFECTLY SAID.
lOVE THIS POST. So true..
Love this!!
Love this!!
So true!!! Love it!
My favorite part was about how it's 26.2 miles each time. :) I get "How long is this marathon?" question all the time. Also when I say I'm doing a 50 miler, I get the "How many days do you have to finish?" Wishful thinking :)
Hah, LOL here. These are all so true!
I love this post, and will most likely link to it on my blog later today.
hehe this is so true and so great!
I LOVE this!!! Linked your blog to my facebook. Thank you so much for posting this! (just got a comment about "bad knees" yesterday from a non-runner).
loved it so much i had to read it to y husband who is a non runner. lol. it's genius.
Love this!
LOVE. IT.
I'm still at the 5k stage and always have to add the ".1". Just because I only run (walk actually) 3.1 miles doesn't meant that I'm okay with them calling it 3 miles.....that .1 is the hardest part of the race. I'm sure it's the same for 26.2. I/m not crazy/dedicated enough yet to try for the distance ;)
I love your blog
Love this! I get the knee comment all the time.
love this!! youre too funny
This really is the best post ever! As a newbie runner (1 yr old) I appreciate being in this elite, and yet open-to-everyone, club. Awesome!
Replace 26.2 with 70.3 or 140.6 and signed The Triathlete
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! I am going to send it to my parents/siblings/family. My run family gets me. :)
This is awesome and so true! Keep on running because it IS worth it!
Oh yeah...and I had to share on my personal fb page!
"I know I said I'd never run this distance again" - I call it break up goggles, and it's 99% of the reason why anyone makes the same mistake twice...giving birth, running >1 marathon, running >1 triathlon, running >1 tough mudder, etc. You only remember the good parts, so you do it again...and remember the bad. THen forget them. And do it again.
Love this!!!!!
Cute! Haha, there are some marathons that aren't 26.2 miles(Comrades, Breckenride, des Sables, Jungle, and I guess the Barkely Marathons don't count because of the 's'), so that question is kind of legitimate.
this is great. i was just thinking about writing something like this. i am battling a bit of a cold today but i am determined to get my training in if it is the stars. other things might have to be put on hold if i come home and then need to rest because i have committed to 26.2, others don't get that. perfect timing lady!
Too Funny!!! I love it!
This is fabulous! I just might have to share the link. :-)
How did I miss this post? Love it!
